Vanderhorst & Coming St., Charleston, S.C.
Another old one. This is one of my favorite pictures. Signs like this are gifts left out for me to find on the streets of Charleston and bring back to present to you. It's like a photo treasure hunt and time is of the essence. This was handwritten on white foam board. The next time I passed it was broken and gone, yet here it lasts forever.
Great sign! I love it.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good sign!
ReplyDeleteUnlike this signboard which is so sweet & pleasant,I saw an unpleasant one in G.S.Road which indicated that passersby could neither stop nor stand !How audacious of the local authority, to actually put the onus on the pedestrian, instead of controlling vehicular movement. It was also amusing because one of the words was misspelt.Since you are making the trip to Shillong this year, you'll get to see all sorts of signboards on G.S.Road.You are very likely to freeze some of those in your camera, from the bunch of the Good, the Bad and the Ugly!
ReplyDeleteThat house was diagnonal from mine in college and I remember my room was right on the corner and I constantly had visions of super fast college drivers accidentally plowing into my bedroom! They drive crazing on Coming! Or atleast they used too, is it any better now that the science center is there and not a parking lot?
ReplyDeleteThe sign, the house, the porch...all of it! I love your photo, Joan!
ReplyDeleteThanks folks!
ReplyDeleteKrystle - come to think of it, I think there are less accidents at that intersection. I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it.
Interesting to see another house with a door leading to a side porch.
ReplyDeletezakton - Charleston is known for the style. It is called a Charleston Single House.
