Before & After - Warren St. Favorite

Warren St., Charleston, S.C.

I've had my eye on this sweetie on Warren St. for a long time. I assumed someone would buy it, fix it up and hand me the keys encouraging me to live happily every after. Oddly these people seem to have their own plans because I haven't been consulted at all. Hmmmmph.

Still, nice to see a beautiful old place getting some love.

  2. Outstanding! I love the standing seam metal roof, and the porch barrrel vault in particular. That metal staircase on the right side was an eyesore. The new version is much more appealing.

  3. That does look like the Old Perry Place, all right. I don't understand why the owners can't see that for themselves.

  4. lowandslow - there is something very "friendly" looking about the house. Maybe because it faces forward instead of the side facing Charleston Single Houses we have here.

Scrib - I like that. I should make a historic sign saying Old Perry Place and stick it in their yard. Heh.

  5. Irrelevantly, I always liked the name of the hotel in WC Fields' the Bank Dick, a movie set in the little town of Lompoc. It was called the "New Old Lompoc House."

Please tell me it was just the camera angle and they didn't tear out all that established greenery!

  7. Anon - Looks like the construction destroyed a lot of it but it is also a different season. They had some lovely bushed that I hope survived.

Scrib - Love it. As long as it isn't "Olde" I like it. There is a Perry House B & B in North Carolina that I stayed at once. I bought their mugs.
