Painting in Washington Park
Rick Reinert, Plein Air Painting, Washington Park, Charleston, S.C.
My artist friend Gina Brown alerted me to the annual plein air painting event at Washington Park yesterday. Area artists set up their easels in the park and surrounding streets and let us all watch as they paint scenery, live models and still life scenes. The art work is framed and auctioned later in the evening benefiting the Charleston County High Schools' fine art programs. Cool, eh?!
In my next life perhaps I will be a gifted artist. Meanwhile I am an admirer of these talented folk and love watching them at work.
What an inspiring idea!!
ReplyDeleteI can see them becoming sought-after masterpieces.
ReplyDeleteWonderful series of shots. Some very talented artists.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful Joan! Thanks so much for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteYou already are an artist, Joan. Photography means to paint with light and you are doing an awesome job not to mention a TRUE blog artist. Connie
ReplyDeleteMaggsworld - it is a great chance to see folks you have heard of at work.
ReplyDeletebfarr - thank you!
Gina - I told Rick you had alerted me :)
Connie - thank you. Picture me blowing kisses your way.
john - I really liked a few of them! Wonder how much they get auctioned for....
ReplyDeleteI agree with Connie. I love your blog, Joan. It's great for folks like me that live in Alabama and get to regularly see Charleston through you. I've only visited Charleston twice, both times were this year... and I absolutely love the city. Thanks for all that you do!
ReplyDeleteCool, eh?!
ReplyDeleteVery, somehow it easy for me to get amazed that such a winderful city as Charleston exists here in South Carolina.
I too, agree with Connie .
ReplyDeleteSome lucky person now owns that marsh painting--I want it I tell you, I want it!!
ReplyDeleteJoan, thanks for showing us this great collection of photos. I love plein air painting. The comment that you are also an artist hit the spot!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots of an incredible event.
ReplyDeleteDarryl and Ruth : )
What Beverly said! That marsh painting spoke to me and I wish it was on my wall. Also what Connie said -- you are an artist with your camera. I'm a wannabe amateur myself, with nowhere near the talent you have, but I know it when I see it. Thanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteJoan you are "a very talented artistic, gifted person already" You bring beauty to the ordinary, and most of us are ordinary. Great idea, this painting in the park. Sally
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely comments to come home to! Thank you all. I agree...I wanted that marsh painting very much.
