Green curry & melon blossoms


Taste of Thai, Orleans Rd., Charleston, S.C.

In my campaign to eat green curry in every Thai Restaurant in South Carolina, I came across these carved blossoms on display at the Taste of Thai on Orleans Rd., West Ashley.

Wow. I can't imagine putting that much work into something that will rot. The carving was incredibly delicate. Is it some kind of melon?

I am pleased to report that the green curry passed my taste test as well although I can't seem to get enough eggplant. Truth is, I really just like eggplant in coconut curry sauce.

  1. Love the beef green curry at Taste of Thai! I always ask for no pepper and extra eggplant.

    Have you tried the thai place in the Food Lion plaza across from the hospital?

  3. Hi, Joan! I love curries and make them up all the time! All the lovely spices are wonderful. What is "green curry"? I don't know anything except that I love the exotic spices that I use - no recipes...just dump and hope.

  5. Janet - I always say, "tiny bit of chicken, lots of eggplant" but they never really believe me.

    Yes, I have eaten at the other one. Their green curry was good too. If you are ever out driving, the little town of Elloree has a great Thai Restaurant called Amporn.

    sunshine - gotta have thai green curry. The sauce is yummy and coconutty.

    townsendtales - I need to try to make it myself. So yummy. It isn't a curry flavor in this case.

    You took me out for Tai wasn't it when I visited. Wonderful. The fruit in the photo above is beautiful. My friend in CA does this kind of work in her catering business. She does it so quickly--it takes no time at all.
