Market Building, Charleston, S.C.
I don't have the right angle but I think this could be a fun "before and after" project. There is a treasure trove of
vintage postcard scenes available online for almost every town. This smacks of a new treasure hunt. Check out this shot of the
sunken gardens at Hampton Park.
Excellent find! I have a feeling I'm going to spend way too much time on that site
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure at all about what kind of historical oversight board Charleston might have but how long has the Market Building been painted those colors?
ReplyDeleteThey just don't look right for some reason.
always - they even had cards from the tiny town in Canada where my folks live.
ReplyDeleteBeach Bum - Seems like they renovated it about 5 years ago or so. I was surprised by the green. Not sure what they based that on. Old pictures were often tinted so I don't know if the color is accurate on the old shot.
Where were the sunken gardens in Hampton Park? Where the duck pond is now?
ReplyDeleteI did a "before and after" project years ago when I went to Gettysburg. I used Matthew Brady's photographs.
ReplyDeleteClisby - It looks like it. There was a big exhibition site there.
ReplyDeletescwrensc - good idea!
Nice building. I like it in both colors.
